Mrs. Mustang asked:

Just curious... I've always been a fan of the "striper" boats, and I just realized that even though the boat is named "striper" (as in striped bass, I assume...) there is always a picture of a swordfish on the side...

Pontoon Boat

There are many flat-bottomed boats around. What separates a pontoon boat from others is that it is simply a float used to hold up a structure on water. The common materials needed in creating a pontoon boat include pipes, barrels, and boxes made from metal or concrete. Since a pontoon boat can be easily navigated and cannot be sunk, it is used as small vehicle ferries to cross rivers or lakes or any body of water. The sizes of pontoon boats vary.

Bass Boats: Made Especially For Anglers

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Bass boats are the sort of boat that enables anglers to fish more productively while out on the water. Generally speaking, a bass boat has a lower profile than say a speedboat. Additionally, they can range in size from 16, 18, to over 26 feet long. Bass boats don’t need as much horsepower as other more sporty boats, but range anywhere from 150 to over 250 horsepower. Smaller boats, though, can be used depending on the tournament or competition, where less than 50 to over 150 horsepower are more than enough.

Advice on stretched throttle cables?

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Deadboy asked:

I have a 1990 Landau bass boat with a 28hp evinrude motor and a steering column that was passed down to me recently. This boat will not move until throttle is almost in full pos. I've tried to adjust cables because the butterfly valve doesnt even attempt to open until throttle is pushed about 3/4 of the way. I cant get it to open sooner not matter how I adjust anything. I can get it to open more but not sooner. My questions are... Are my cables stretched? If so are they available for a 28hp, cause I don't think they make them anymore. If not what would be the closest compatible? Does the motor really matter is more along the lines of the boat? My father gave it to me and he said he bought it brand new in 1990 and the guy told him that after a couple years he needed to get the cables adjusted. After almost 17 years we just now tried to do it. Any info will help. Thanks!!
